Despite the results indicating that neither the consumption of exogenous antioxidants, which include ascorbate, tocopherol, carotenoids, retinol, and lycopene, nor augmented activities within the intrinsic antioxidant defense system, composed of enzymes such as CAT, SOD, GPX, GST, serum albumin, and total bilirubin, showed a statistically discernible causal link with OP risk, our study disclosed a noteworthy observation suggesting that OP itself might act as a causative agent contributing to reduced total albumin concentrations
